Interior design project stages and schedule

An interior design project has an order to it: the brief, the site survey, space planning, the concept, the technical drawings. In Projado, project management software for interior designers, you tick the stages a project covers when you start it, and the software builds the structure from them, with tasks, files and dates.

The stages you choose

In the new-project wizard you tick the phases you will prepare for the client: space planning, concept design, technical drawings. You can add stages of your own, rename them and reorder them, during the project as well.

Every stage is not started, in progress or completed. The stages where the client reviews materials are completed by the client's approval.

Files are added where they are produced: in the site survey and at each stage. The Files tool then shows all of them in one place, whatever stage they belong to.

Tasks

For each phase the software suggests typical tasks, which you add with one click or leave out.

A task has a due date, a priority, a stage, a room and a person responsible. You can switch on an e-mail reminder for the day before it is due. In the planner you filter tasks by stage, person and due date, and overdue tasks are marked.

Schedule and calendar

You give stages a start and an end date, and add positions of your own to the schedule. Meetings, site visits and deadlines appear in the project's calendar and in the calendar of the whole studio.

You can show the schedule to the client in the portal: the stages with their dates, the dates feedback is due, and the meetings you mark as visible to the client.

The Projado calendar can be added to Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook.

Project templates

If your projects follow a similar shape, you save the set-up of one as a template: the stages in their order, the tasks with due dates counted from the start of their stage, the tools and the rooms. A new project starts from the template, with its dates counted from the day you create it.

Tools such as the site survey or the shopping list are switched on and off in each project separately.

Questions and answers

Do I have to use every stage?

No. You tick only the ones a project covers. The client questionnaire always comes first.

Can I add a stage of my own?

Yes, when you create the project and later. A stage that already has tasks or materials shown to the client has to be emptied before you can delete it.

Does the client see my tasks?

No. In the portal the client sees only the schedule, if you share it: the stages with their dates, the dates feedback is due and the meetings you choose.

Does the software remind me of due dates?

Yes, if you switch the reminder on for a task. The e-mail arrives the day before the due date and goes to the person responsible for the task.
