Shopping list for interior design projects

A product list in a spreadsheet works while the project is small. After that you are chasing links, prices and what has already been ordered. In Projado the shopping list, the document many studios keep as an FF&E schedule, is part of the project: products belong to rooms, and the total adds itself up.

What is on the list

Every product has a name, photos, a quantity with its unit, a unit price with its currency and a link to the shop. You can add the supplier, manufacturer, catalogue number, dimensions, category and notes.

You view the list by room or by category and filter it by status and supplier. A product is a proposal, to order, ordered or delivered. You change the status of one product or of several selected at once.

The status is your own record of where a purchase stands. Projado does not place orders with shops or suppliers.

How products get onto the list

  • With the browser extension, straight from the shop's page. The extension is not yet released for installation.
  • From a link: you paste the product's address and the software tries to read the details from the shop's page.
  • By hand, for a product that is in no online shop.
  • From an Excel or CSV file, if you already keep a schedule in a spreadsheet. Before importing, you check which column holds what.

When you add a product that is already on the list, the software notices and offers to increase the quantity.

Total and budget

The list's total adds itself up. If you enter a budget for the project, the list shows how much of it the total takes and tells you when you go over. With no budget entered, the software shows an estimate from the client questionnaire: the budget per unit of floor area times the floor area.

Products priced in a currency other than the budget's are left out of that comparison.

This compares the list's total with the budget. It is not a cost estimate: Projado does not price labour or building work.

Export and sharing

You download the list as a PDF, an Excel file or a CSV. For the PDF you choose a layout, for the client, for the contractor, full, or your own set of columns, and which products and statuses go into it.

You can also show the list to the client in the portal: all of it or selected products, with or without prices and shop links. The client accepts products or rejects them with a comment, and you see their decisions on the list.

Questions and answers

Does Projado order products for me?

No. The shopping list is a schedule and a set of statuses that you keep yourself. You place orders the way you do now, with the shop or the supplier. Projado has no purchase orders and no invoicing.

Can I bring in a list from Excel?

Yes. You import an Excel (.xlsx) or CSV file, say which column holds what, and see what will be added before anything is imported. A file exported from Projado loads back without any fixes.

Is this a cost estimate for the whole job?

No. The list totals products and compares that total with the project's budget. Projado has no estimate of labour or building work.

What does the client see on the list?

Only what you show them. They never see the supplier, manufacturer, catalogue number, purchase status or your notes.
