Interior design client questionnaire: a free template
Before you design anything you need to know how the client lives and what they expect. Below is a client questionnaire you can copy, download and send in whatever way you like, with no e-mail address to give and no account to create. It is a selection of the questions in the questionnaire Projado sends to clients by link.
Prepared by the Projado team
How to use it
Copy the questions into an e-mail, a document or a form you already use, or download them as a text file. Delete what you do not need: you would not ask a client who lives alone about children, or a client in a flat (apartment) about the garden.
Where a question has ready answers, they are listed after it, separated by slashes. The client picks one or several. Questions without them are short text or number fields.
A questionnaire does not replace a conversation. Use the answers as a starting point for the meeting where you ask about whatever is unclear.

Room by room: the kitchen as an example
In Projado the client marks the rooms the project covers and gets separate questions about each one. This is the kitchen part. For other rooms, ask the equivalent questions.
- How often do you cook?Answer options: Every day / A few times a week / Rarely / Hardly ever
- How many people use the kitchen at the same time?
- Which kitchen layout do you prefer?Answer options: Open / Partly open / Closed / No preference
- Do you want an island?
- What bothers you about the current kitchen?
- What works well and should stay?
- What are your three priorities in the kitchen?
- What do you definitely not want?
- Is there anything we have not asked about?
How many questions to ask
As many as the client will answer without tiring. That is why this questionnaire is split into parts, and why you ask about a room only if the project covers it. If you will go through it at a meeting anyway, pick the questions worth asking in advance and leave the rest for the conversation.
Send it to the client as a link instead of copying it
In Projado this questionnaire goes to the client as a link. The client creates no account and sets no password: they confirm it is them with a code sent to their e-mail address, or a PIN you give them. They answer when it suits them, on a phone too, and the answers save as they go. When the client sends the questionnaire you get a notification, and the answers are waiting in the project.
The questions adapt to the type of property and to the rooms the project covers, so the client does not fill in one long form. Today the questionnaire has one standard set of questions, and you cannot add your own.

Questions and answers
Do I have to give an e-mail address to download the questionnaire?
No. The questionnaire is on this page: you can copy or download it without giving an address and without creating an account.
Can I change the questions?
Yes. It is plain text, so copy it and change it to suit you. In Projado itself you cannot add your own questions today, because the questionnaire has one standard set.
Is this the same questionnaire Projado sends?
It is a selection of its questions, worded exactly the same, except the budget question, which here asks about the whole project. The software asks more, adapts the questions to the type of property and the rooms, and saves the answers in the project, which a text file cannot do.
Should the questionnaire ask the client about budget?
It is worth it, because materials and furnishings depend on it. The question is about the budget for carrying out the interior, not the cost of the design itself.
