Site survey records for interior design projects

After a site survey (site measure) you are left with photos on your phone, a sketch on paper and the developer's floor plan in an e-mail. Projado keeps all of it in the project: floor plans, room photos, dimensions and technical notes, each with a record of where it came from.

What you record

The site survey has several parts, and you fill in each one when you need it:

  • Floor plan: you upload the file, and when a newer version exists you add it to the same plan. The version history stays.
  • Room photos: you take them on your phone on site or choose them from the gallery, assign them to a room and caption them.
  • Room data: length, width, area and ceiling height.
  • Technical notes: water and drainage, electrics, ventilation, heating, gas, structural elements and what has to stay as it is.
  • Other files: sketches, developer's plans, CAD files and documents.

Where the information came from

Every plan, photo and entry has a source: measured in person, received from the client, or the developer's documentation, with a date and a name. That matters when a dimension on the developer's plan does not match what you find on site.

You record gaps as items still to check. When the documentation is complete you finish the site survey, and the software records the date it was verified. If something is still waiting to be checked, you see it before you close the stage.

On site, from your phone

You send photos straight from your phone, several at a time. The software downsizes them before sending, which helps on a weak connection, and you can choose to send the originals. If sending is interrupted, you carry on from the photo it stopped at.

What the site survey feeds

The rooms in the site survey are the same rooms you assign inspiration and products to. The total of the room areas is shown next to the floor area from the client questionnaire.

You can download all the documentation as one ZIP file, to hand to a contractor for example.

The site survey is not drawing software. You prepare the plan in your own drawing package and upload the finished file.

Questions and answers

Can I draw a floor plan in Projado?

No. You upload a finished plan as a file and the software keeps its versions. Projado is not CAD or 3D software.

Which units does it use?

Room length and width are entered in metres, and ceiling height in centimetres. The project's floor area is shown in square metres, or in square feet for a studio that uses the United States regional format.

What if I do not have every dimension yet?

You record the gap as an item to check and fill it in later. You can finish the stage with gaps open if they do not block the next work.

Is the site survey compulsory?

No. It is one of the tools you switch on or off in each project.
